Environment & Climate Change
The Environment and Climate Change group aims to provide expertise bridging multilateral environmental agreements with concrete field activities that directly benefit poor communities. The group's approach is based on sustainable management of natural resources, such as forest, water and agricultural land and on recognition of the landscape approach; the multilateral environmental agreements define our entry points. It aims to address global environmental concerns, in particular climate change, recognising the essential role of environmental stability for sustainable human development.
Together, the group thus brings skills in a wide variety of topics including:
- climate change mitigation options in the sector of agriculture, forest and other land uses, including access to carbon markets
- vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, with special consideration to disaster risk reduction
- quantification, valuation and promotion of environmental services, including biodiversity and soil conservation
- sustainable management of natural resources as a way for reducing pressure on ecosystems.
