Governance & Natural Resources
The Governance and Natural Resources group aims to provide expertise from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, focusing on supporting governance processes at local, national and international levels – often related to the management of natural resources. The group's approach is based on participation, transparency, accountability, effectiveness, and respect for rights - recognising that good governance implies the active and responsible involvement of all relevant stakeholders from the public, private and civil society sectors.
Together, the group thus brings skills in a wide variety of topics including:
- community collaborative forest management
- community based land and water management
- rural livelihoods and rights over resources
- strengthening civil society
- decentralisation
- institution building
- municipal and communal development
- reform processes
- policy formulation and legislation
- multi-stakeholder processes
