Adaptation of forest ecosystems and the forest sector to climate change This document has been prepared jointly by FAO and Intercooperation. It is of particular interest to the people who deal with national communications to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
After the study tour: Stories of Changes In May 2008, NSCFP staff and partners participated in a study tour to either Bangladesh or Southern India, facilitated by NSCFP and Intercooperation. The study tour participants visited a number of Swiss-supported activities in community-based natural resource management, with the objective of learning and sharing experiences. Yet what had really stayed with them after their travels, what had they learned that they could put into practice on their return? Had anything that they saw genuinely inspired change? This publication shares the answers to these questions, gathered during a story telling workshop organized one year after the study tours.

Non-Timber Forest Products between poverty alleviation and market forces All over the globe, Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) are an important aspect of forest management. While the debate in countries in the North revolves primarily around services (protection, biodiversity, recreation) and less around products, the situation is different in countries in the South and East. There, products often play an important role for local communities, either for home consumption or through commercialisation in local or regional markets.

Tropical forests and adaptation to climate change: in search of synergies This book encompasses inputs from science, policy making and development cooperation with regard to the linkages between climate change, sustainable livelihoods and biological diversity. It presents experiences, challenges and alternatives to scientists and practitioners for commonly assessing the needs of poor livelihoods to successfully cope with climate change as well as for bridging the gap towards a meaningful implementation of adaptation measures. It is based on the recognition of the need to establish a bridge between science, policy making and development cooperation with regard to promoting adaptation to climate change and variability at the local level. Many of the articles included are based on the discussions that took place during the international workshop on "Adaptation to Climate Change, Sustainable Livelihoods and Biological Diversity", held March 2004 in Turrialba, Costa Rica
