| Experiences in Collaboration - Ginger Pests and Diseases | Ginger is a crop of great importance to farmers of Sikkim. Unfortunately, yields are never guaranteed due to many pests and diseases. A concerted effort has been made over the past 7 years by the Department of Horticulture, Government of Sikkim, and the Indo-Swiss Project Sikkim to combat ginger pests and diseases. | IC NGO Partners' Meet | This Country Series records the proceedings of a meeting of Intercooperation's NGO partners in India, who came together to share and highlight their experiences in four themes: pro-poor integrated water management; participatory approaches to sustainable agriculture and livestock rearing; decentralisation and local governance; and working with indigenous communities. Over 47 partners from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu were represented. |

Whilst it may not be appropriate in the 21st century to promote and replicate traditional forms of management, much can be learned from them in building effective community-based systems - particularly in matters of conflict management. |
