Document Actions

About 230 persons from GOs, NGOs, journalists, local government representatives, Community Based Organisation (CBOs) and local service providers participated in the event. Senior officials from district administration and district level line agencies were also present.

The Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj (photo) participated in the programme as chief guest while the Additional Deputy Commissioner chaired the event.

The presentations and discussions highlighted Intercooperation's approaches and innovations for self-help promotion, marketing development, gender development, extreme poverty initiatives, local service provision, crop diversification and a concerted system of poverty monitoring.

The presentation made by the CBO members and local service providers impressed the participants, and helped them gain a clearer understanding of the innovations of Intercooperation.

The district administration pointed out that the various approaches used by Intercooperation - such as marketing extension and local service provision - truly contribute to extreme poverty reduction and rural development.

The representative of a leading micro finance organisation showed interest in collaborating with Intercooperation to work with the extreme poor.

The representatives from government line agencies agreed that the local service provision of Intercooperation contributed to making services available in rural areas.
