Overview of the Seminar
Seminar local governance & decentralisation
Intercooperation has defined in its business policy 2002-2005 "local governance and civil society" as one of its three core competences. At the beginning of the year 2002 the new "Municipal and Local Development Team" was established. In the framework of the yearly "Intercooperation-week" where all the delegates and the staff of the Intercooperation desk in Bern meet during one week to discuss and plan the different programmes and projects and institutional issues, a one day seminar on "local governance" was organised.
The main aim of the seminar with over 50 participants (IC staff, main partners of Intercooperation, main consultants, other persons and organizations working in the field of "local governance") was
- to introduce the new topic and position it within IC's portfolio
- to inform and exchange about ongoing experiences, different approaches and first lessons learned
The quality of the inputs, the fact that also many external experts and IC-partners participated in the seminar and brought in their experiences as well as the active participation and discussion of all participants made the seminar a big success.
