BSM Water for Food (Backstopping Mandate on Water for Food)
Description
The BSM water for food provides support to the Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) division of SDC in the development and implementation of its key functions and tasks. The mandate focusses on integrated water resource management (IWRM) related to food production and food security in rural areas and its contribution to poverty reduction and the achievement of the millenium development goals.
The mandate will provide the NRE division with external competencies and capacities in order to remain up to date on the current state of the art, to define positions and views on specific issues, to develop and strengthen partnerships and alliances, to ensure knowledge management and validation of experiences and to develop and disseminate publications and learnings.
The mandate is responsive to the environmental, economic and social aspects which are critical for sustainable water use and management.
