BSM SODEV (Backstopping Mandate Livelihood for Equity)

Key message: Thematic support on sustainable livelihoods, pro-poor policy and empowerment

Description

Under this mandate, now in its second phase, Intercooperation provides thematic support to SDC's Social Development Division. The support focuses on deepening understanding on the topics empowerment, pro-poor policy, and sustainable livelihoods, for learning and sharing throughout SDC. Mandate outputs include discussion papers analysing state-of-the-art knowledge, shorter briefing papers, case studies, interviews with key staff on experiences in policy influence, and a dedicated website which also features an interactive learning tool on the sustainable livelihood approach (as developed orginally by NADEL - of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich). The first phase of this mandate (2005-2007) was managed by Intercooperation in consortium with the UK-based Overseas Development Institute (ODI). In the second phase, Intercooperation is contracted alone.
