CBRM (Community Based Sustainable Resource Management Program-Buildup Phase)
Description
CBRM is a joint Project of the Government of the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan (Go NWFP) and the Swiss Government. It was conceptualized as a multi-sectoral, action research program with a major focus on Human and Institutional Development and Natural Resource Management. CBRM's Orientation Phase started in 1999 and was completed in December 2002 after achieving its objectives. CBRM Phase II started its activities in January 2003, with strong focus on the following elements;
i.Concentrate on Human and Institutional Development in NRM sector through participatory approaches of PTD/Farmers Field Schools.
ii.Small and medium community action projects in NRM sub-sectors. These projects will be identified, planned and implemented by communities' organisations and will be reviewed and approved by Regional Coordination Forums (RCF). The RCFs include eleted members of local government and representatives of line agencies.
iii.Decentralized Planning, Decision making and implementation of NRM activities through multi stakeholders Forum (RCF).
iv.Emphasis on small farmers, women and landless.
v. Emphasis on strong linkages with other organisations for better service delivery.
The project covers in East and North NWFP. Two NGOs are CBRM's partners in its implementation.
