MDP (Municipal Development Project in Doboj Region, Bosnia & Herzegovina)
Description
The aim of the project is to support selected municipalities in both entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Doboj region) towards more effective, efficient, participative, accountable and transparent local governance with an active involvement of the civil society.
The project includes 3 main action lines :
1. Support the strengthening of key instruments of municipal policy, development planning and management, incorporating the principles of good governance and based on a common and shared vision of municipal development.
2. Foster organisational innovation and mechanisms for improving participative governance between local authorities and civil society actors.
3. Support the dissemination and exchange of good practices between the municipalities (horizontal dissemination) and their introduction in policy development on good governance in BiH (vertical integration).
The three action lines are closely interlinked. Common vision and action plans have been elaborated through participative mechanisms. The stakeholders at municipal level, including civil society organisations and representatives, have been meeting to define the vision of the municipality, which will guide future activities. New forms of participative mechanisms evolve from the action plans and result in specific project proposals to be implemented. Good practice dissemination supports the strengthening of the progress achieved and contributes to policy dialogue with higher level of government.
