NGO Programme Andhra Pradesh (SDC-IC NGO Programme Andhra Pradesh)

Key message: Sustainable NRM initiatives to improve the livelihoods of socially marginalised groups (poor, dalit, tribal, women) and small farmers.

Description

The overall goal of the Programme is to contribute to the sustainable improvement of livelihood systems of resource poor rural households in rainfed areas of Andhra Pradesh through increased productivity of natural resources. The main objective in this consolidation phase is to logically consolidate the work so far initiated with a range of NGO partners & network NGOs during the previous phases & analyse the lessons learned. Guiding principles are a livelihood approach; gender balanced development; participation; equity; and sustainability. During consolidation, the aim is to ensure sustainability of field activities, provide linkages for continuation, and reach to the turning point at which CBOs & NGOs are strong enough to face the future & document the processes & end results. The programme has partnership directly with 12 NGOs & indirectly with 20 small NGOs & 1200 CBOs organised around different natural resources & purposes. They are receiving support to build their capacities, improve their managerial skills for self-reliance & consolidate their (NRM-based) activities.
