SSMP (Sustainable Soil Management Programme)

Key message: Improved livelihoods for woman and men in the mid-hills of Nepal from bari-dominated farming systems

Description

The Sustainable Soil Management Programme is managed by Intercooperation and Helvetas in collaboration with Nepal's government and civil society organisations. It promotes sustainable soil management on the hillsides of Nepal and places a methodological emphasis on participatory technology testing and diffusion. Activities supported include on-farm testing, farmer-led experimentation, human resource development and networking between institutions. A Project Support Unit provides technical and administrative back-up.
